Election Integrity or Voter Suppression?

The rules for a New Orleans mayoral recall election require a percentage of eligible voters to sign the recall partition. The Louisiana Secretary of State's office says the number is 49,976. But recall organizers say that number is too high, alledging that it was calculated from voter rolls inflated by 33,000 ineligible voters included on the rolls. That equestes to about 6,500 signatures. Supporters of Mayor Cantrell claim cleaning up the rolls to get an accurate signature requirement is voter suppression. [2/23/2023]
